Summit opening day · Heroes of Ukraine Charity Golf Tournament
A day of sport, solidarity, and support — British and Ukrainian veterans played side by side on royal grounds, the day before the London 2025 Summit opened. This page is the record of that day.
Why it matters
Ukrainian veterans of the Russo-Ukrainian War play alongside British veterans — building sincere connection, friendship, and a shared brotherhood of service.
For veterans healing from wounds and trauma, a day on the course is more than a game — it's psychological recovery, confidence, and a step back into life.
The tournament shows the world that Ukrainians are strong, rational people — not the caricature Russian propaganda paints.
Popularising golf in Ukraine — and giving wounded and adaptive athletes a sport they can carry into the future.
Your host
One of the UK's most respected sports broadcasters hosted the day — leading the awards ceremony and the charity auction, and making sure every participant felt part of something truly meaningful. Pete was joined by celebrity sports friends, and brought his media reach to carry the veterans' stories to a wider audience.

The moment
Ukrainian veterans teed off with UK football legends, presented the Freedom Award, and carried their stories from the battlefield to the heart of London.

London 2025 is over. On March 16, 2027, the Ukraine Freedom Golf Tournament pairs every foursome with a Ukrainian veteran.
